Jerome and Harris–1906
The firm is founded by John J. Jerome, the 14th accountant to become certified after the state implemented the CPA requirement. Jerome partners with Max D. Harris to own and operate a small yet prosperous accounting practice.
Harris, Reames & Ambrose–1952
Harris merges his practice with those of Robert Reames and Bud Ambrose. Walter P. Maner, Jr. also joins the firm. The firm expands by merging with firms in Lansing and other Michigan cities. The mergers would lead to offices in Grand Rapids, Dowagiac, Kalamazoo, Hillsdale, Rochester and Saginaw.
Seidman & Seidman–1971
Following a merger with a St. Joseph, MI firm, bringing in Floyd Costerisan, the firm merges with national accounting firm Seidman & Seidman.
Maner, Costerisan & Ellis Partnership–1976
After a five-year relationship with Seidman & Seidman, the firm decides to form a local partnership and maintain its sole location in its Lansing office.
Maner, Costerisan & Ellis, P.C.–1977
The firm incorporates to Maner, Costerisan & Ellis, P.C. and significantly expands its range of service offerings.
Maner Costerisan–Today
Due to growth and the increased needs of its clients, the firm relocates to a larger, more centrally located facility. In 2009, the firm changed its name to Maner Costerisan to simplify. With 17 directors and principals, the firm has grown into the largest locally-owned CPA and consulting firm in mid-Michigan.
