“As President of Maner Costerisan, it is my job to ensure our clients receive the same level of service we would expect, while giving them the respect and undivided attention they deserve.
Through daily client interaction, I encourage our team take the ‘client is never wrong’ approach. Ultimately, clients know their goals and what they want. It is our job to listen to their needs and concerns, and provide expert advice and guidance that will help them reach their full potential.”
Bruce joined Maner Costerisan in 1979. As President, he guides the firm’s strategy and day-to-day operations, and works toward the overall growth and profitability of the firm. Bruce also serves as director of Maner Costerisan’s Education Practice Group and CPA Firm Practice Group.
Beyond his leadership roles, Bruce works closely with a diverse group of clients including school districts, colleges, governmental entities, trade associations, nonprofit organizations, CPA firms and closely-held businesses. He is known throughout the firm, and by his clients and colleagues, as the “go to” expert for matters regarding education entities, peer reviews and CPA advisory services.
With over 29 years in the accounting and consulting field, Bruce has assisted clients with a broad range of technical and advisory issues. His specific experiences include guiding a client through the process of locating and hiring a new CFO, and providing temporary outsourced controllership services. In addition, Bruce has helped numerous clients implement new accounting software into their existing systems. He often shares his extensive knowledge of the industry by serving as a speaker for the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) and the Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO). Bruce has also written several articles for the Greater Lansing Business Monthly magazine and the MACPA.
Before his professional career began, Bruce was confident that accounting would be the ideal fit because of the opportunity to work closely with people and to potentially be a business owner. He attributes his professional success to his parents, who instilled in him a quality work ethic and a philosophy of personal responsibility and accountability. Bruce also learned the value of hard work at an early age while spending summers picking potatoes for 10 cents per bushel.
Bruce was raised in the thumb area of Michigan and now lives in Grand Ledge. He and his wife, Kathi, have a daughter, Nicole, and a son, A.J., who is a pitcher for the Michigan State University baseball team. His interests include playing golf, and attending and watching sports of all kinds, especially Michigan State University baseball.
