“I feel a responsibility to continually give back to the communities which have been critical to both my personal and professional success. I believe that we have an obligation to preserve and improve our communities for the generations to come.”
Steve joined Maner Costerisan in 2007. In his role as senior manager and director of administration, he oversees Maner Costerisan’s day-to-day internal operations. Specifically, Steve manages and directs the firm’s administrative, facilities, financial and personnel functions. He also assists with the management of Maner Costerisan’s internal information systems and marketing initiatives.
Prior to joining Maner Costerisan, Steve most recently worked for over two years at the Michigan Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, the largest conservation non-profit organization in the U.S. As chief administrative officer and acting director of philanthropy, he managed and directed administration, finance, information systems and philanthropy for the organization. Steve also previously served as CFO at Blodgett Butterworth Health Care Foundation; vice president of finance and controller at Intelitouch.com; and partner, CFO and controller at Terryberry Company. He began his career at the former “Big Eight” accounting firm Arthur Andersen & Company, where he served as an auditor and tax accountant.
Beyond his extensive experience in finance and administration, Steve has long been heavily involved in his community. He previously served a four-year term as Mayor of East Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he also served as commissioner for ten years. Currently Steve is completing his first term on the East Grand Rapids Board of Education, where he serves as vice president. His dedication to public service is a direct result of the example exhibited by his parents, both of whom were active in their communities throughout Steve’s childhood and adult life.
Steve was inspired to pursue a career in the accounting field due to his desire to help manage a successful organization. Today he attributes his professional success to his positive attitude, strong work ethic and ability to motivate people to achieve their very best. Steve also credits his background in competitive sports, both as a player and a coach, which taught him the work ethic necessary to succeed, how to respond to adversity and how to be gracious in victory.
Steve was born and raised in East Grand Rapids, where he still resides today with his wife, Monica. Together they have two daughters. Outside the office, Steve enjoys watching sports, playing golf, walking, going to movies and meeting new people.
